Willy Trip
The Willy Trip is an annual trip that has been organised by students in the Earth and Planetary Sciences department during the march reading week for the last 40 years or so.
Every year, students choose a destination somewhere in the world with interesting geology and are accompanied by Professor Anthony Williams-Jones (Willy), who shares his expertise, giving students an opportunity to learn directly in the field. The itinerary and trip planning is entirely up to students, who can cater the trip to their geological and cultural interests.
Previous trip destinations have included Kenya/Tanzania, Morocco, Indonesia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Namibia, Chile (and many more!).
Earth System Science Trip
The Earth System Science Trip is an annual trip that has been organised by students in Earth System Science.
The goal of the trip is to visit a location that illustrates earth system processes. To get funding for the trip it must enhance the student's understanding of Earth System Science. During the trip students will write scientific reports about what they encounter during the trip.
This trip is entirely student run and the Earth System Science program is very small so there have been few trips planned. To see examples visit the ESYS undergrad lounge in BURN 722.
Previous trip destinations have included Iceland and Newfoundland.
